In Step With…the BROUGHTON BAND!
The Band ended the year with a flurry of excitement. The Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and both Jazz Bands performed at the end of year concert. Shortly after that, the President of the Tournament of Roses, Richard Jackson, and his wife Sharon, paid a visit to Raleigh. The Jacksons toured the Triangle Area, participated in media interviews about Broughton’s Tournament of Roses trip, and spent time getting to know Band Members and their families. The highlight of the visit was the official invitation to march in the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade, presented at the Senior Assembly!
Now, while our students enjoy summer pursuits such as vacations, summer jobs, and camps, JR Richardson and the band staff are already preparing for a busy Fall season. A week of Band Camp will kick off on August 1st. On Friday of that week, Band members and their families will gather for our traditional Pot Luck dinner, and will get a sneak peek at the 2011 Fall show music. As always, the band will support Broughton’s football team and will participate in several Fall marching contests.
