FRUIT!
Fruit orders have been taken up and fruit will be delivered on February 23rd. We will be meeting at Costco on Six Forks Road to unload and distribute fruit orders between 3-6. Please come out and help us by picking up your order and helping to sort others. We will also need some folks to help us bring the extra fruit back to the band room .
Concert!
We have our concert on Thursday, March 15th at 7:00. Both concert bands and jazz bands will be performing. Please be sure this date is on your calendar!
Food Cards
There are plenty of food cards so please send in requests! These will help build your accounts for the coming year or pay off outstanding balances.
TOR money
If you still have outstanding TOR payments, please make sure you are in contact with me so we can get your accounts cleared. I will be in contact with JR if necessary to help you figure out where you stand, but please be sure you are working to clear this account!
Music Man
We need students to sign up to perform for the Music Man. The NC Symphony specially requested the Broughton Band to perform and I would hate to have to tell them that we don’t have enough students to participate. The folks that support the symphony are more than likely some of the same folks that supported your trip to Pasadena and this would be a fun way to show off for them!
The performances are Friday-Sunday, April 13-15 and I believe all shows start at 8. There is a required dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 12th. Students can sign up for one or more shows depending on how their schedule may work that weekend. They will also receive community service hours for this event. Encourage your students to support THEIR band and THEIR community through this wonderful opportunity. There is a sign-up sheet in the band room.
Looking ahead
During the workdays, I will be meeting with our music arranger for the fall marching show. I will also be sending out information regarding drum major auditions in the next few weeks. I am very excited about our upcoming concerts, and getting everyone ready for the fall. I know it will be a successful season and we will continue the tradition of excellence that the band program has enjoyed for so many years. Keep encouraging your students to be patient with the transition and open to new experiences that may come their way. Change is tough, but we are all in this together!
Thank you for supporting the Broughton High School Band program, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me atmharrison3@wcpss.net.
Thanks!
Margie Harrison
